On the first evening of Chanukah
2008, a couple dozen people gathered in the Clifton Park Center
Mall for a lighting of a Menorah made of cans, despite the snowy
stormy weather conditions. The picture of Rabbi Yossi Rubin
lighting the Menorah was featured in the Capital Region front
page of the Times-Union newspaper (see below).
After their use in the Menorah
lighting, the cans were donated to the newly established
Kosher
Food Pantry for distribution to families in need.
In addition everyone enjoyed
doughnuts, chocolate gelt, and Menorahs and candles were made
available to all for the holiday.
