Saratoga SUKKAHfest
AMAZING SUKKOT ACTIVITY DAY

Monday, October 1st 2007 at Saratoga Chabad

During the intermediate days (aka "Chol HaMoed") of the Sukkot Holiday, it's become customary to take children on outings. Saratoga Chabad hosted an exciting hands-on activity day for dozens of children and their families. Events and Activities included:

  • Animal Petting Zoo
  • Pony-Rides
  • Rock-Climbing Wall
  • Live classical Jewish Music
  • Delicious Sukkah Supper
  • Edible Sukkah Craft
  • and more!!

Pictures below...

At right a youngster is repelling from the Rock-Climbing Wall, at left is the Sukkah and people milling about.
These children were happy to get horseback pony-rides. Saratoga Chabad's pink Menorah and the old-fashioned Circular Street streetlamp are visible in the background.
Yehoshua Sussman, accomplished violinist, plays Chassidic and classical melodies, enhancing the Sukkot festivity. Here Sussman explains his violin and his music to two teenage girls - who are also exciting to see the Sussman baby. It's a big Mitzvah to eat in the Sukkah on Sukkot. A buffet of chicken, BBQ, salads and more was served all afternoon.
An intergenerational chat. Lulav Shakes bring Jews together for a Mitzvah!
Making Edible Sukkah crafts out of graham crackers, marshmallow fluff, and green sour-sticks was fun for young and old.

Many kids (and even adults) tried their hands and feet on getting up the rock-climbing wall. A 2nd floor Sukkah is visible in the background. The sheep and goats were gentle enough for kids to play with them, feed them and pet them. They were clean, easy-going and so soft!
These bunnies were so soft, cuddly, gentle and relaxed. Kids were happy to take turns holding them.
