Saratoga Chabad's
SCRIBAL ARTS
A Torah Scroll is being written in memory of Morris and Marlene Aronson.

This is a historic Torah for this region, being the first to be entirely written here, by a local scribe, Rabbi Mendel Serebryanski.

It is a beautiful custom to purchase letters or words in the Torah Scroll for oneself as well as family members.

"Each Jew is a letter in a Torah Scroll." Even if one small letter is missing or cracked, in invalidates the entire holy scroll and disqualifies it from use.

In addition to hand-writing the Torah scroll according to the sacred tradition, Rabbi Mendel also educates young and old on the scribal craft and the beautiful tradition and teaching of the holy Hebrew letters.

He has visited numerous area Hebrew Schools, has hosted youth and study groups, and has shown and shared his craft at various outdoor festivals and fairs in Saratoga Springs and elsewhere in the area, including the University at Albany (with Shabbos House and the L'chaim Student Group).

Rabbi Mendel is also available to check Tefillin and Mezuzot. Periodic checking is recommended.

Contact Rabbi Mendel at (518) 459-7302 or 496-0011. He is also available by appt at The Mitzvah Center in Colonie Plaza near Kosher Price Chopper.

As the Torah Completion nears, you can purchase (for a nominal token fee of $1) letters in this Torah honoring family and friends. It is a great Mitzvah and merit to have a share in a Torah Scroll.

SOFER comes to the
JAZZ & ART Festival

on Caroline Street

Rabbi Mendel Serebransky -
Scribal Specialist for Saratoga Chabad spent an afternoon at the JAZZ and ART FESTIVAL on Caroline Street demonstrating his ancient craft in writing handwritten parchment scrolls for Mezuzot, Tefillin and Torahs. Many stopped by to ask questions, examine the many display materials, or to inquire about purchasing a Mezuzah for their home.
