LAKE GEORGE MINYAN

Join tens and hundreds of Jewish travelers in a most memorable minyan experience.

The summertime Lake George Minyan is in a white tent behind Magic Forest at 71 Bloody Pond Road, just off Route 9 in Lake George NY, 12845. Bloody Pond Road is accessible from both Route 9 as well as the very end of Beach Street where it meets Route 9L.

The Minyan runs daily (based on traveler and tourist participation) from July 21st through August 22nd 2010. End date is flexible, depending on participation.

Shachris - 8am /  Mincha/Maariv - 7:30pm
please note that Mincha time moves earlier as the summer progresses...

Refreshments are available almost daily following davening, and there are some Seforim available for participant use before and after davening.

Shabbos Minyan is only by special arrangement at the Travelodge Motel on Route 9 (just south of Lake George Village). For updated Minyan info call Efraim at (518) 522-THRU (8478). Interest in Shabbos Minyanim is best by Wednesday - as it helps with set-up and arrangements. Travelodge usually offers a "Lake George Minyan" rate.

The Lake George Minyan is now behind "The Magic Forest" Children's Amusement Park
1/4 mile east of Route 9 in a field at 71 Bloody Pond Road.  Look for white tent on the left of the road - directions below.

(Please note that Minyans are not guaranteed since they depends on tourist involvement,
but 10 years of experience has shown that Minyans during tourist seasons are well attended)

Directions to the Lake George Minyan:

Adirondack NORTHWAY (87) to Exit 21. Keep Right until the traffic light, Turn Right onto Route 9 (direction South). The Magic Forest (and the giant Uncle Sam) will be on your left. Minyan is located in big white tent on 71 Bloody Pond Rd behind The Magic Forest.

From CANADA STREET (Lake George Village's Main Street) go South on Route 9 approx 1 mile past the Lake. The Magic Forest  (and the giant Uncle Sam) will be on your right.  Minyan is located in big white tent on 71 Bloody Pond Rd 1/4 mile behind The Magic Forest.

ABOUT THE MAGIC FOREST
The Magic Forest Park is an excellent, visible landmark (you can't miss the giant Uncle Sam in the Parking Lot), is the host property for our Summer Minyan as well as an enjoyable children's entertainment.  Jewish visitors should be aware of several Christian-themed exhibits in the park, but there are plenty of rides in a wooded setting to enjoy besides.

KOSHER SELECTION AT THE MINI-CHOPPER
The well-stocked Mini-Chopper Kosher Store is located at the corner of Amherst & Iroquis Streets - one block behind Canada Street, the main road in the Lake George Village. See "Area Kosher" for more Northeastern NY Kosher info.

THANKS TO ORIGINAL LOCATION
We extend our appreciation to Mr. Pinchas Peter Shabbat of the Pine Grove Motel for graciously welcoming and hosting the Lake George Minyan for its founding years until his recent sale of the Pine Grove Motel on Route 9.

The Lake George Minyan is a community service project of Saratoga Chabad.

For activities and attractions in the Saratoga-Lake George Region see Jewish Tourist Info...

Efraim, a Rabbinical student running the Minyan and summer outreach for Chabad in Lake George with Arnold, the Minyan's Gabbai and Queensbury resident who is delighted to welcome back Minyan regulars year after year.

Rolling the Torah to the weekly portion on the first Shachris Minyan of the Summer 2009 after Shabbos Nachamu. Lake George Minyan members come for a day, for a week or longer, and many step up to the plate - at the amud, with layning and more... It's beautiful that the Minyan brings together Jews of different Minhagim and Nusachs, all under one tent - literally!

Lake George TraveLodge on Route 9 usually offers a discounted Rate if you mention the "Lake George Minyan"
